Director of Media and Technology with technician setting up labThe elementary buildings designated for the project and the training lab have an infrastructure that includes Category 5 cabling and fiber backbone to support workstations, printers, and data communication devices via data connectivity between floors and communication closets. The structured cabling system is capable of a minimum speed of 100 Mbps to and from each workstation over unshielded (Category 5) 4 pair 24-AWG twisted pair solid copper conductors, insulated with the appropriate plenum jacket. All cabling was installed to conform and perform in accordance with applicable TIA/EIA-568-A specifications. The cabling was also installed in accordance with applicable standards as outlined by the NEC, NESC, and local building codes. The data electronics (i.e., hubs, switches) are 3Com equipment. The elementary schools are equipped with 3Com Hub 10 hubs and additional Hub 10's where appropriate. Each classroom has a total of 7 data drops and one voice drop.
