Here are a few things that we think parents can do to help their son or daughter
succeed at Stout Middle School:
- Attend Stout's Open House in the
beginning of the school year.
- Always attend Parent-Teacher Conferences.
- Stout's teachers and counselors are there
for you and your child. If you have any concerns, call and make an
appointment with your child's
teachers or counselor.
- If your child is in 6th grade make sure you ask
them for their Friday folder
and sign their planner.
- Check your child's planner
each night - find out what homework your son or daughter needs to
do.
- Each night, set aside some quiet time, so
your child can do their homework. Help them if they need help!
- Make up pre-tests at home
based on what your child has learned during the week. This will
help them pass their tests.
- Don't yell at your child when
they receive a bad grade - instead figure out how you can help them so
their grade will be better next time.
- Encourage your child to always do their best,
to try their hardest.
- Always praise your son or daughter for
trying and if they do an excellent job on something surprise them with a reward.
- Be available when your son or daughter
needs to talk to you.
- When possible, have dinner together and
talk over the day.
- Know who their friends are.
- Make sure your son or daughter gets
enough sleep. Set a daily bedtime.
- Be aware of what your child watches on
T.V. and restrict the amount of T.V. your child watches.
- Be aware of what your child is doing
online. Talk to your son or daughter about staying safe on the
Internet.
