Student
Council
Student
Council sponsors all the school dances. There are four dances each year, plus a
special dance at the end of the year for just the eighth graders. Student
Council also has bagel sales. Every year they give $200.00 to the Dearborn
Firefighters Burn Drive. They also help deliver gifts to the children in
hospitals during the holiday season. Oftentimes, Student Council will be the
club sponsor for collecting canned goods for the Salvation Army to give to needy
families.
In
2001, Student Council donated a red bud tree to the Cafeteria Courtyard for the
Oklahoma victims and two trees to the 8th Grade Courtyard in memory of the
victims who died when the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center collapsed.
Student
Council also buys things for the school. They helped purchase the sign in front
of the building and contributed to the new sound system in the auditorium for
the Fine Arts Department. They also gave funds to the Athletic Department for
new outdoor bleachers.
Student
Council runs the school dances. The money they collect at the school
dances always goes back into Stout School. For example, they purchased a
new sound system that is used for the school dances, because they do not hire a
disc jockey for the school dances.
Mrs.
Fleezanis and Mrs.
Catalos are the teacher sponsors of Student
Council. Sam
Haddad chooses responsible 8th grade students to be the disc Jockeys for the
school dances.
Meeting
times for the students involved in Student Council are always posted in the
Morning Bulletin.
Student
Council members are chosen in the following way:
1.
Your teachers must recommend you and
you must be a good citizen of our school to be recommended. This means that you
get good academic and citizenship grades and that you always represent Stout in
a positive way.
2.
Next, you are interviewed by Teacher
Sponsors of Student Council.
