Week of June 5, 2006


Look below to review this week's objectives for 7th Grade.  In order to obtain more information about a specific benchmark for the content areas of Science and Social  Studies, please do the following:

  1. Remember the benchmark number (example: Science BM5).

  2. Then click on this link, Middle School Benchmarks.  Next, click on the subject you would like to view.

  3. Click on the desired benchmark number from the list that comes up on the screen.

This link will provide you with quick and easy access to the MICLiMB (Clarifying the language in Michigan's benchmarks). You will find an enormous amount of useful resources. Each benchmark is clarified with an instructional example, key concepts, real world context, and other web resources.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
W.GN.07.02 Write a research report (e.g., I-search, website, traditional) for an authentic audience that includes appropriate organizational patterns (e.g., problem statement and solution, position statement and supporting evidence, compare and contrast), descriptive language, and text features.
W.GN.07.03 Formulate research questions using multiple resources, perspectives, and arguments/counterarguments to develop a thesis statement that culminates in a presented, final project.
W.RP.07.01 Set a purpose, consider audience, and replicate authors’ styles and patterns when writing narrative or informational text.
W.RP.07.02 Apply a variety of pre-writing strategies for narrative (e.g., story maps that are designed to depict roles of antagonist and protagonist, internal and external conflict) and informational text (e.g., position statement and supporting evidence, problem statement and solution,, compare/contrast).
W.RP.07.03 Revise their writing to reflect different perspectives for multiple purposes.
W.PS.07.01. Exhibit individual style to enhance the written message (e.g., in narrative text: personification, humor, element of surprise; in informational text: emotional appeal, strong opinion, credible support).
 
 
 
MATH: 
D.AN.07.03 Calculate and interpret relative frequencies and cumulative frequencies for given data sets.

SCIENCE:  
SCI.lll.3.MS.1  Describe how the characteristics of living things are passed on through generations. 
SCI.lll.3.MS.2  Describe how heredity and environment may influence/determine characteristics of an organism.
SCI.lll.4.MS.1  Describe scientific theory traces possible evolutionary relationships among present and past life forms.
 
 
 
SOCIAL STUDIES:
MS 4.3: All students will describe how government decisions on taxation, spending, public goods and regulation impact what is produced, and who receives the benefit of production.
MS 4.4.3: Use case studies to exemplify how supply and demand, prices, incentives, and profits determine what is produced and distributed in the American economy.
MS 4.5: All students will describe how trade generates economic development and interdependence and analyzed the resulting challenges and benefits for individuals, producers, and government.
