7th Grade
Weekly Objectives
Week of May 1, 2006

Look below to review this week's objectives for 7th Grade.  In order to obtain more information about a specific benchmark for the content areas of Science and Social  Studies, please do the following:

  1. Remember the benchmark number (example: Science BM5).

  2. Then click on this link, Middle School Benchmarks.  Next, click on the subject you would like to view.

  3. Click on the desired benchmark number from the list that comes up on the screen.

This link will provide you with quick and easy access to the MICLiMB (Clarifying the language in Michigan's benchmarks). You will find an enormous amount of useful resources. Each benchmark is clarified with an instructional example, key concepts, real world context, and other web resources.

In order to obtain more information about a specific benchmark for the content areas of Language Arts and Math, please do the following:

  1. Remember the GLCE (example: R.WS.07.01).

  2. Then click on this link, Grade Level Curriculum Expectations.
  3. Next, select the grade level and content area that you wish to review.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
Reading R.IT.07.01, R.IT.07.02, S.DS.07.01 Analyze elements and style of informational genre. Analyze organizational patterns (compare/contrast, cause/effect). Engage in interactive discourse to construct meaning.
Writing W.PR.07.01, W.PR.07.02, W.PS.07.01 Set purpose, and replicate author's style and pattern when writing informational text.  Apply a variety of pre-writing strategies.  Exhibit individual style to enhance the written message.

MATH:
A.PA.07.01 Recognize when information given in a table, graph, or formula suggests a proportional or linear relationship. A.RP.07.02 Represent directly proportional and linear relationships using verbal descriptions, tables, graphs, and formulas, and translate among these representations.
A.PA.07.03 Given a directly proportional or linear situation, graph and interpret the slope and intercept(s) in terms of the original situation; evaluate y = kx for specific x values, given k, e.g., weight vs. volume of water, base cost plus cost per unit.

SCIENCE:
Layered Lesson Plan will be presented for the objective covering Matter.
Explain how elements differ, in terms of the structural parts and electrical charges of atoms.  SCI.IV.1.HS.3
Classify substances, elements , compounds or mixtures and justify classifications in terms of atoms and molecules. SCI IV. MS.3
Explain physical changes in terms of the arrangement and motion of atoms and molecules.  SCI. IV. 1.2 MS.3
Describe common chemical changes in terms of properties of reactants and products.  SCI. IV. 2. MS. 2

Will also include the following additional benchmarks:
Constructing benchmark:
Use sources of information in support of scientific investigations.  SCI.I.MS. 5
Reflecting benchmark:
Describe limitations in personal knowledge.  SCI II.MS.2

SOCIAL STUDIES:
MS 4.1.1: Using economic reasoning when comparing price, quality, and features of goods and services.
MS 4.2.2: Compare various methods for the production and distribution of goods and services.
MS 4.4.3: Use case studies to exemplify how supply and demand, prices, incentives, and profits determine what is produced and distributed in the American economy.
