- MACHINES WERE REPLACING SKILLED LABORERS AND THOSE SKILLED LABORERS
DID NOT LIKE THE IDEA
- A GROUP OF MEN WERE DETERMINED TO STOP THE MACHINES
- THE MACHINES THAT WERE BEING USED WERE POWER LOOMS
- POWER LOOMS WERE ABLE TO CREATE FABRIC QUICKER THAN BY HAND
- THIS WAS PUTTING MANY MEN OUT OF WORK
- ATTACKS ON THE OWNER'S HOMES AND FAMILIES WERE HAPPENING REGULARLY

- HE WROTE A POEM DEFENDING THE ACTIONS OF THE "LUDDITES"

ECONOMY AND TO WAGE EARNERS.
- ANOTHER SYMPATHIZER AT THE TIME WAS AUTHOR, MARY SHELLEY BORN
1797-1851 (DIED OF A BRAIN TUMOR)
- SHE LOOKED AT "LUDDISM" FROM A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW.
- THE "LUDDITES" WERE AGAINST TECHNOLOGY AND THE IDEA THAT MACHINES
WOULD TAKE OVER AND MEN WOULD NOT HAVE WORK.
