FUR ANGELS
Reading With The Angels

Fur Angels will start this year on October 10th. It will be held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.

This reading program is the inspiration of Ms. Capion. She worked with Fur Angels' founder, Martha Hall, to implement the program in Taylor and Randall School. Ms. Capion's classes are definitely seeing results from the motivation of reading to the dogs. The therapy dogs provide a positive, non-intimidating environment to a child just learning to read. The dogs don't tease or rush the child as they learn. You can see the children's confidence growing, along with their self esteem. Fur Angel members go through extra training to be qualified to help in the reading program.
When the child is finished reading the book to the dog, it is autographed by the dog (with a paw print) and the dog's owner writes a message.
