Dear Parents,

Hope you all had a great and relaxing spring break because there is just a whole gaggle of things happening in the up-coming weeks.

Firstly, there is the Musical.  This is just going to be a tremendous production, full of singing and acting, lots of comedy, and twice the fun.  The show opens on April 25th at 7:00pm and runs through Saturday April 27th.  Tickets will be sold at the door: Adults will be $7, students $5, and the whole family for $15 (WHAT A DEAL!!). This really is a first for the Gibraltar Music Department so don’t be left out in the cold, come on down and have a great evening of entertainment.

Next, and at the exact same time, literally, the band is attempting to go to the state MSBOA band festival.  This festival happens to also be the weekend of the 27th.  I don’t know any times or locations yet but I will pass them along as soon as I receive that information.

But wait there’s more!  The first week of May involves two great happenings.  The first is the Carlson Fine Arts Night Wednesday May 1st at 7:00PM, all Symphonic Band students are required to attend; and secondly, the trip to Toronto.  The band will be gone May 2nd through the 4th.  This is going to be a great experience for both the program and the students, and there are still a few extra spots available if you are interested.  See me, Mr. Brockington, for more details.

As if these monumental performances were not enough, Marching Band Sign-Up Night will happen May 9th.  This year is going to be spectacular. (I realize I say that every year, but I mean it this year).  This year the marching band is pulling out all the stops.  We are going to play the music of Jethro Tull, specifically, Thick as a Brick.  It is rock’n good music and we are going to bring down the house with our sound, so join early and stay for the duration because the band is going to be hot.

Lastly, there is the Spring Concert.  This is scheduled for May 21st at 7:00PM and will feature both bands and the choir.  This is a very special concert where we honor of our seniors for their hard work and dedication.  Plus, there will be a lot of great music as well.  Bring the whole family.

Well, it is defiantly a jammed-packed schedule, but I hope you find some time to come out and see all the great performances happening in Gibraltar.  Thank you for your continued support of the band program and your students.  Remember your support makes them successful.

                                                                                                Musically,

                                                                                                David Brockington

                                                                                                Director of Bands
