  Facts About the Media Center

Home Events/Activities Student Resources Teacher Resources A.R. Book List

Fisher's media center collection currently contains approximately 13,500 books, videos, CD’s, magazines and tapes.  Students in kindergarten and first grade check out one book each week.  Second graders check out two books every two weeks with their class and the third , fourth and fifth graders check out three books every two weeks.  We have a flexible access media program.  This means that media skills are taught in relation to what students are learning in the classroom instead of learning isolated skills.  The media specialist and the classroom teacher collaborate to plan and teach lessons.  Teachers can also send small groups to the media center to work.  The flexible access enables students to checkout books anytime they need to.

We also have the Accelerated Reader program in the media center.  Any student in second through fifth grade can participate.  First grade students must have a teacher’s recommendation.
