| 1) Are you married? Yes, my husband, Michael and I have been married for 27 years. | |
| 2) What does your husband do? My husband has his own business. It is called R.E.P.T.I.L.E., Inc. He travels to schools, libraries, birthday parties, and company picnics with a variety of reptiles. He talks about their characteristics, habitat, feeding habits, and pet qualifications. He ends his presentations by letting people hold the animals if they so choose. | |
| 3) Do you have any children? Yes, we have three daughters. Katie is 24 years old and a graduat of Michigan State University (GO GREEN!). Erica is 22 years old. She attends Oakland Community College and is studying sign language to become an interpreter. Mary is 18 years old and plays the cello at Troy Athens. She will be attending the honors college at Grand Valley State University this fall | |
| 4) Where did you go to school? I got my undergraduate teaching degree from Oakland University in 1999. I am currently in a Masters program at Madonna University where I am specializing in early childhood. | |
| 5) How long have you been teaching? This is my sixth year at Winans Academy. It is also my fifth year as a "professional" teacher. However, I have had experience in Detroit, Pontiac, Royal Oak and Oak Park school districts during my education at OU. I have also home schooled my children and ran a daycare program for more than ten years. | |
| 6) Why do you like teaching Kindergarten? Kindergartners learn so much in the period of nine months and I love to watch them grow. They are also a constant reminder to me to take joy in the simple things of life. They teach me to look, listen and learn because there's always more to learn, even from children. | |
| 7) Do you have any hobbies? In March of 2004, I received my black belt in karate - an accomplishment of which I am very proud. I also love to read! | |
