Summercise Project Choices:

When your research packets are finished, you will also need to do a project. Although we are only requiring one project this year, we encourage you to do a project for both Social Studies and Science.  Each project handed in should be neatly and carefully done.

Summercise Math:

1 Social Studies Project or 1 Science Project = 1 Fun Projects Due J

You may choose from any of the following projects TO COMPLETE:

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION:

-        These presentations should be carefully planned out.

-         Grade level expectations for this  project are as follows:

1st Grade: At least 3 slides with a different fact on each slide (total of 3 facts)

 

2nd Grade: At least 5 slides with a different fact on each slide (total of 5 facts)

 

3rd Grade: At least 7 slides with a different fact on each (total of 7 facts)

 

4th Grade: At least 8 slides with a different fact on each (total of 8 facts) + animation and sound on at least 1 of the slides

 

5th Grade: At least 10 slides with a different fact on each (total of 10 facts) + animation and sound on at least 1 of the slides.

FLIP BOOK:

-         Include pictures and illustrations that are appropriate for the topic you have researched.

-         Also include interesting facts about your Science or Social Studies topic

-         The FLIP BOOK should be completed as follows:

  1.  Use the Flip Book as a Report Book to show what you have learned during your research.

  2. Label each of the flip pages with headings related to your information (For example: Wolf Babies; What Wolves Eat; Wolf Habitats; Wolf Behavior; etc.)

  3. SORT THE FACTS
    -Lift the flap for each label and write the facts that would be under that label.
    -Draw an illustration to show the facts. Color it neatly.

  4. The Flip Book is now a book to Display your work

-Grade level expectations for this project are as follows:

1st Grade: 3 pages/facts + illustrations
2nd Grade: 5 pages/facts + illustrations
3rd Grade: 7 pages/facts + illustrations
4th Grade: 8 pages/facts + illustrations
5th Grade: 10 pages/facts + illustrations

FACT BOX:

-  The Fact Box is to be decorated on all sides except the bottom.

- The box size used should be no smaller than a shoebox and no larger than a milk crate.

-  Be creative! Use stickers, markers, etc.

-  Each side of the box should contain:

1.  Pictures or illustrations

2.  Facts learned during your research.

3.  A hand-drawn map if appropriate

4.  Student’s name

(Remember that FACT BOXES must be related 
to Internet the research you have done)

-         Grade level expectations for this project are as follows:

1st Grade: At least 3 facts + illustrations

2nd Grade: At least 5 facts + illustrations

3rd Grade: At least 7 facts + illustrations

4th Grade: At least 8 facts + illustrations

5th Grade: At least 10 facts + illustrations 

POSTER:

- Decorate your poster with facts, illustrations, and pictures. Include a hand-drawn map if appropriate.

- Be creative! Let your presentation reflect your fantastic imagination

- Use stickers, markers, etc.

- Grade level expectations for this project are as follows:

 1st Grade: At least 3 facts + illustrations
 2nd Grade: At least 5 facts + illustrations
 3rd Grade: At least 7 facts + illustrations
 4th Grade: At least 8 facts + illustrations
 5th Grade: At least 10 facts + illustrations

FACT QUILT:

-         This quilt should contain:

1.  Pictures and illustrations

2.  Facts you have gathered in your research

3.  The center square should contain the topic of your project + student name.

-         Ideas for completing this quilt:

1.    Put your facts and illustrations neatly on each of the quilt squares.

2.    Squares can be made from construction paper, colored paper, card stock, fabric, etc.

3.    You may glue your quilt squares onto a larger sheet of paper or fabric and then decorate the border. Or perhaps you will choose to punch holes and tie the squares together neatly with thin strands of yarn.

4.    Be creative! 

-         Grade level expectations for this project are as follows:

First Grade:  3 Fact Quilt squares + Illustrations

Second Grade: 5 Fact Quilt squares + Illustrations

Third Grade:  7 Fact Quilt squares + Illustrations

Fourth Grade: 8 Fact Quilt squares + Illustrations

Fifth Grade: 10 Fact Quilt squares +Illustrations
